AG Meets Italian NAA Officials
Auditor General Mrs. Amal Faraj met a delegation of the National Anti-Corruption Authority of Italy, headed by president Mr. Giuseppe Busia in her Ramallah office on Monday 17.11.2025.
The meeting intended to enhance relations and view the Palestinian experience in governance, integrity and corruption fighting.
Mrs. Faraj expressed gratitude to the Italian people for great support to the Palestinian people, and hoping this support eventually leads to the Italian government’s recognition of the State of Palestine.
Mrs. Faraj asserted the complementary relationship between SAACB and NAA in the reinforcing transparent and honest public action, and briefed the officials about SAACB mode of operation, reports and processed complaints. She also explained how annual reports are handed to entities in question and published for the general viewing.
Mrs. Faraj talked about the cooperation with the government and importance of SAACB membership in reform committee, indicating the project SAACB undertook to develop and strengthen the capacity of internal control staff at different government entities, with the future connection between SAACB, these entities and the cabinet.
She also discussed the difficult circumstances, mainly financial, that staff are working within, and keenness to keep these entities effective with sustainable service.
Deputy chair of the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission Mr. Jamal el-Qaash stated that this visit is to reinforce the partnership with SAACB, which recommended by ACC to introduce NAA of Italy about SAACB complementary role. He explained the Palestinian-Italian twining project, which intends to enhance transparency, integrity and exchange of experience.
NAA president expressed thanks to AG for having them and for the information, which showed SAACB keenness to safeguard public funds, reiterating that there are many common elements between the two institutions.
NAA delegation included the deputy president Mr. Philipo Romino, deputy general consul of Italy in Jerusalem Mr. Damiano Lavardi and head of the Italian-Palestinian twining project for corruption fighting Mr. Quardo Faggioni.
ACC deputy chair Mr. Jamal el-Qaash, head of the twining project and ACC chair advisor Mr. Saed Shihadeh, head of ACC international cooperation Mrs. Sirin Awawdeh, project coordinator Mrs. Jumana Dababseh and project coordinator from Italy’s side Mr. Mohammed el-Laham.
From SAACB, director general Mr. Jaffal Jaffal, financial and administrative affairs manager Mr. Esmat Aburabea, Legal affairs manager Mr. Mohammed Manasrah and public relations head Mrs. Lana Assi were present.
